Getting To Know Yourself

Do you really know yourself? And when I say “know yourself”, I don’t mean do you know your Enneagram number, your Meyer’s Briggs, or your favorite ice cream flavor. I mean, do you really know who you are at your core? The person beneath all the titles, behind all the amazing things you’ve achieved, who are you really when you get down to the nitty-gritty?

Getting To Know You

We all have a version of ourselves that feels really secure, laughs at anything we think is funny, and yell’s out “Booya!” when something good happens. You might dance in your kitchen, laugh at the joke you just made inside your head, or feel really safe when your nose is in a good book.

Most of us also have a version of us that feels insecure. We care too much about what that person might think of us, we go silent instead of laughing it up, and we hide because it feels safer to do so.

The version that I want to speak to today, is the one that feels full of life. The you that feels like she/he can do anything and be anything. The version of you that sees a mountain, way higher than they’ve ever climbed before, and says “Heck yes I can do that!”

I want to speak to the part of you that feels confident around those specific types of people, is her/his full self when in that one place, and feels like she/he can say and do anything and it would be safe.

Dear Confident You

It’s your time to shine! This is your season to come out and play. To be seen, to be known, to be loved. You are more confident and more alive than you think. I want you to feel safe to come around. To be loud, and joyful. I want you to shout when you’re excited and jump when you feel giddy.

I want you to dance because you feel like it and sing because you love that song. To wear those clothes you’ve been keeping hidden. I want you to have permission to be fully you. Without hesitation. Without judgment. Confident you is wonderful and amazing and glorious.

And confident you needs to be seen more. Because confident you not only gives you permission to be yourself, but it also gives those around you permission to be their full self as well.

Questions For Discovery:

  • Who do you wish you could be more like?
  • Who are your favorite people and why? (You most likely have the same qualities)
  • Who are you when no one’s watching?
  • What are your favorite things to do alone and with others?
  • What are you interested in learning?
